Aktisil® VM 56 by Hoffmann Mineral acts as a functional filler. It is an agglomerate of corpuscular silica and lamellar kaolinite. It is an activated Sillitin® Z 86, produced by modifying the surface with a vinyl functional group. Used either on its own or combined with extenders or flatting agents used in UV and electron-beam cured paints and varnish applications.<br>
<ul style="padding-left: 40px;"><li>Optimum performance is achieved in binder systems which polymerize or cure due to a radically initiated reaction which include unsaturated polyester-, vinyl ester and acrylic resins and other radically cured systems.</li>
<li>It is also suitable for melamine and UF resins.</li>
<li>It retains the excellent properties of the base material as it possesses high filling ratio, outstanding dispersion behavior, good pigment dispersion (spacer effect), low abrasiveness, very low tendency to settle and good flatting effect.</li>
<li>It is quick-drying, has a slight flatting effect, and shows breathability, good scratch-, abrasion-, weathering-, chemical- and moisture resistance.</li>
<li>As compared with the base, Aktisil® VM 56 minimizes yield point (including a high solids content) and offers excellent mechanical properties such as increased tensile-, bending-, wet edge- & impact strength.</li>
<li>It achieves good transparency and exhibits good wettability even using binders with low polarity, minimal water absorption, high water vapor permeability & improved swelling characteristics.</li>
<li>It is also used in stoving paints/enamels-, special emulsion paints-, primer, plastisol-, pigmented-, anti-corrosive-, wood- & foil coatings.</li>

<li>It offers best performance in binder systems that have functional groups with active hydrogen bonds which include epoxy-, polyurethane-, polyester-, alkyd-, acrylic-, phenolic-, melamine and all stoving enamel resins.</li>

It is an activated Sillitin® Z 86, produced by modifying the surface with an alkyl functional group. It can be used alone by itself, or in combination with rheological additives and/or flatting agents. It offers good transparency, improved wetting and easy dispersion in binders with low to slight polarity.<br>
<ul style="padding-left: 40px;"><li>It retains the excellent properties of the base material as it possesses high filling ratio, outstanding dispersion behavior, good pigment dispersion (spacer effect), low abrasiveness, very low tendency to settle, and slight flatting effect.</li>
<li>It is hydrophobic, quick-drying, and shows breathability, good scratch-, abrasion-, weathering- and chemical- (particularly acids) resistance.</li>
<li>In non-polar to slightly polar vehicle systems, Aktisil® PF 777 is easily dispersed already with low shear energy input, and provides rheological properties such as shear thinning.</li>
<li>In highly polar systems, its appropriate loadings cause thixotropic properties, strong shear thinning and lead to a yield point.</li>
<li>It is used in high solids fillers, plastic primers, high performance industrial paints, metal-, electrophoretic-, and solvent-based corrosion protection (general, polyaspartic, epoxy) coatings.</li>
<li>Recommended dosage level is up to 50% (m/m) and PVC up to appr. 30%.</li>
