Aktisil® AM

Supplied byHoffmann Mineral- Last Updated on Sep 11, 2025

Aktisil® AM by Hoffmann Mineral acts as a functional filler. It can be used either on its own or combined with extenders or flatting agents. It is an activated Sillitin® Z 86 produced by modifying the surface with an amino functional group. It retains the excellent properties of the base material as it possesses very low tendency to settle, high filling ratio, outstanding dispersion behavior, good pigment dispersion (spacer effect), low abrasiveness, and slight flatting effect.
  • It is quick-drying, has a matting effect, and shows good scratch-, abrasion- & weathering-, stone chip-, chemical-, moisture resistance.
  • As compared with the base, Aktisil® AM minimizes yield point (including a high solids content) and offers gloss & excellent mechanical properties such as increased bending-, wet edge- & impact strength.
  • It offers best performance in binder systems that have functional groups with active hydrogen bonds which include epoxy-, polyurethane-, polyester-, alkyd-, acrylic-, phenolic-, melamine and all stoving enamel resins.
  • It achieves good transparency and exhibits good wettability even using binders with low polarity.
  • Used in high grade reactive industrial-, powder-, solvent-based anti-corrosive coatings, and varnishes.
  • It is also used in solder resist inks, metal-, primer-surfacer (water-based automotive OEM, train/industry)-, water-based corrosion protection (epoxy clear coat, DTM acrylate)- and plastic coatings.
  • The recommended metering level is up to 50% depending on intended application.
  • The shelf life of product is 2 years.
