Aktisil® MAM by Hoffmann Mineral acts as a functional filler. It is an agglomerate of corpuscular silica and lamellar kaolinite. It is an activated Sillitin® V 88, produced by modifying the surface with a methacrylic functional group. It is used either on its own or combined with extenders or matting agents in UV or electron-beam cured paint and varnish applications. It is quick-drying, has a matting effect, and shows breathability, good scratch-, abrasion- & weathering-, chemical- and moisture resistance.
- It provides optimum performance in binder systems which polymerize or cure due to a radically initiated reaction which include unsaturated polyester-, vinyl ester-, acrylic-, melamine- & UF resins and other radically cured systems.
- It retains the excellent properties of the base material as it possesses high filling ratio, outstanding dispersion behavior, good pigment dispersion (spacer effect), very low tendency to settle, low abrasiveness, good flatting effect.
- As compared with the base, Aktisil® MAM minimizes yield point (including a high solids content), offers cleanability in dispersion paints (with suitable formulation) and excellent mechanical properties such as increased tensile-, bending-, wet edge- & impact strength.
- It exhibits good wettability even using binders with low polarity, good transparency, minimal water absorption, high water vapor permeability and improved swelling characteristics.
- It is suitable for facade-, stoving enamels-, road marking- and special emulsion paints.
- It is also used in solder resist inks, plastic-, foil-, metal-, powder-, anti-corrosive-, wood and film (dispersion-based clear wood)-, construction-, decorative (concrete) coating, and interior dispersion paints.
- The recommended metering level is up to 55% depending on intended application.
- The shelf life of product is 2 years.
