STERLING® NS-1 by Cabot is a 100% carbon black pigment (in the class known as Semi-Reinforcing Furnace (SRF) carbon blacks). It has low surface area as ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon blacks, but with a higher structure reflected by the higher OAN and C-OAN. It exhibits better dispersion, higher modulus, viscosity and lower die swell compared to ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon black but requires slightly lower carbon black loadings for the same hardness. It generates relatively little heat in processing and contributes to reduced permeability and reduced compound cost. It is suitable for industrial rubber products such as seals & gaskets, windscreen wiper blades, anti-vibration and engine mountings and hose linings and other extruded articles. It conforms to ASTM N774 carbon black target values. STERLING® NS-1 is used in tire tubes and inner-liner compounds. STERLING® NS carbon black is a pelleted carbon black-based rubber compound. It shows low viscosity and generates relatively little heat in processing. It possesses higher die swell and extrusion shrinkage than other ASTM furnace grades at equal carbon black loadings, except for ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon blacks, in rubber compounds containing STERLING NS carbon black. it shows dispersion, higher modulus, viscosity and lower die swell. It exhibits very low surface area as ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon blacks, but with a higher structure reflected by the higher OAN and C-OAN. In this additive, low surface area and low structure allow high loading to be used in many rubber compounds, by reducing permeability, compound cost and swelling in adverse environments. STERLING® NS finds application in tires (tube and inner-liner compounds), industrial rubber products like seals and gaskets, windscreen wiper blades, anti-vibration and engine mountings, hose linings and other extruded articles. STERLING® SO by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing carbon black. It offers moderate modulus, high reinforcement, good processing characteristics, good extrusion characteristics and ease of dispersion.

It is used in various tire carcass applications.

STERLING® SO finds application in passenger tire sidewalls, passenger tire ply skim compound and industrial product applications including hose, weatherstrips, extruded profiles, roofing, seals and moldings.

STERLING® V by Cabot is a pelleted semi-reinforcing carbon black. It conforms to ASTM N660 carbon black target values and is of the class previously known as General Purpose Furnace or “GPF”. It offers colloidal properties that lead to moderate rubber reinforcement and low hysteretic properties. It provides outstanding dynamic properties, low heat build-up, elasticity and processing. STERLING® V is recommended for industrial rubber products like engine mounts, hose linings, seals and gaskets. It is also applicable in inner liners, sidewalls and ply compounds in a passenger car tire, under-treads and tubes STERLING® SO-1 by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing carbon black, the material of the class previously known as Fast Extrusion Furnace-Low Structure (“FEF-LS”). It conforms to ASTM N539 carbon black target values. It exhibits similar surface area and aggregate size to ASTM N550 type carbon black, with a lower degree of particle aggregation structure. It offers lower hardness, modulus and slightly greater die swell. It provides good dispersion, higher loading capacity, resilience and lower levels of reinforcement. It is designed for industrial rubber products like extruded profiles, hoses, seals and moldings. STERLING® SO-1 is also applicable in tires and carcass. STERLING® 105 by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing furnace black with very highly aggregated, ultimate particles. It conforms to ASTM N683 type carbon black and combines a surface area similar to ASTM N660 type carbon black with a structure even higher than ASTM N550 or N650 type carbon black. It is used to strengthen rubber compounds. It offers a very high structure that allows high rubber compound plasticizer loading while maintaining good green strength and part dimensional stability during and after the calendaring and extrusion process. It exhibits reinforcement properties similar to ASTM N650 and N550 type carbon blacks, with better dynamic, dispersion and extrusion properties. It is suitable for extruded rubber applications that require good dynamic properties and extrudability. STERLING® 105 finds application in hoses, construction profiles, engine mounts, belt inner layers and sidewalls of passenger car tires. STERLING® 142 by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing furnace black with very highly aggregated ultimate particles. It offers low surface area, high loading capacity, good dynamic properties, low level of reinforcement and easy processing. It is suitable for extruded or calendered at high speed with smooth surfaces and good dimensional stability. It exhibits very good extrusion characteristics, elasticity and resistance to creep. STERLING® 142 is recommended for tire manufacture including tire carcass and tube compounds, extruded articles such as automotive door gaskets, weather-strip and seals and molding compounds such as engine mountings. STERLING® VH by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing carbon black. It offers high static and dynamic modului and moderate reinforcement. It imparts very good extrusion characteristics and ease of dispersion. It provides low hysteresis, dynamic properties, low heat build-up and extrudability. STERLING® VH is used in extruded rubber articles like hoses, construction profiles, engine mounts and belt inner layers. It is suitable for sidewalls and ply skim compounds in passenger car tires. STERLING® SO-RC110 by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing circular carbon containing 10% recovered carbon material. It is particularly suited for rubber applications. It is based on Cabot’s co-pelletization technology that combines ISCC PLUS certified recovered carbon material with STERLING SO to deliver physical performance that is equivalent to ASTM N550 carbon black.

It maintains high levels of quality, consistency and processability in rubber compounds, making it suitable for applications that require higher sustainable content without compromising rubber performance.

STERLING® SO-RC110 is used in sidewalls & under tread compounds in passenger car and light truck tires as well as extruded rubber articles like hoses & construction profiles, engine mounts and belt inner layers molded rubber parts.

STERLING® C by Cabot is pelleted, highly reinforcing furnace carbon black
with a high surface area per unit mass. It is suitable to impart electrical conductivity with good reinforcement to rubber compounds. The effect of STERLING® C on the electrical conductivity of rubber compounds depends on the carbon black loading.

It meets the conductivity requirements without the need for very high carbon black loadings.

It offers easy processing than compounds based on very super conductive carbon black products.

It shows similar rubber reinforcement properties to those of ASTM N330 type carbon black, but with better abrasion resistance.

STERLING® C finds application in antistatic and conductive applications like hospital flooring, sheeting, wire and cable jacketing, printing rolls, conveyor and power transmission belts, hoses for mining.
