STERLING® 105 by Cabot is a semi-reinforcing furnace black with very highly aggregated, ultimate particles. It conforms to ASTM N683 type carbon black and combines a surface area similar to ASTM N660 type carbon black with a structure even higher than ASTM N550 or N650 type carbon black. It is used to strengthen rubber compounds. It offers a very high structure that allows high rubber compound plasticizer loading while maintaining good green strength and part dimensional stability during and after the calendaring and extrusion process. It exhibits reinforcement properties similar to ASTM N650 and N550 type carbon blacks, with better dynamic, dispersion and extrusion properties. It is suitable for extruded rubber applications that require good dynamic properties and extrudability. STERLING® 105 finds application in hoses, construction profiles, engine mounts, belt inner layers and sidewalls of passenger car tires.
