Afcona -2270 by Afcona Additives is a silicone-free moderate defoaming agent. It has good combination of defoaming and compatibility with most resins. It is applicable for medium viscosity applications which are applied by spray and brush. It is suitable for system ranging from low polarity to high polarity. Afcona -2270 prevents the formation of foam and blisters during manufacturing. It is useful for UV curing systems especially for acrylate epoxy and polyurethane systems for wood, plastic, car refinishes. It is designed for airless spray coatings and stove paints for general industrials. The recommended dosage level is 0.1-0.7% and under normal conditions, the dosage level is 0.2-0.5% based on total formulation. The shelf-life of the grade is 5 years. Afcona -6700 by Afcona Additives is based on ketoxime and a phosphorous ester salt that acts as an anti-gel agent and viscosity stabilizer for airdrying as well as stoving coating systems. In air-drying alkyd paints, the ketoxime in Afcona -6700 form a protection layer on the top of the paint to reduce the oxidation caused by oxygen. Addition and dosage: 0.5 - 1.0 % on total formulation. Afcona -4009 by Afcona Additives modified polyacrylate polymer that acts as a polymeric dispersant for deflocculation of pigments. Due to its particularly good combination of price as well as performance, it is a very attractive product to substitute conventional wetting and dispersing agents in all kind of coating systems. Afcona -4009 can be used as post adding additive to correct flooding and floating in all solvent-based paints. If used in mill bases as co-grinding dispersant, the anti-flooding and floating property is also good. Addition and dosage: Calculation method for the required amount of active ingredient of dispersant on pigment: TiO2 : 2 – 3%, Other inorganic pigments : 2 – 5%, Organic pigments : 20 – 40%, Carbon blacks : 20 – 50%. Afcona -4050 by Afcona Additives is a high molecular weight modified polyurethane polymer that acts as a dispersant for deflocculation of all type of pigments. Has very good stability performance, through effective steric hindrance. Offers improved gloss and DOI, reduced flooding problems, higher color strength as well as lower viscosity. Afcona -4050 is used in general industrial where quality requirements are not so high as in OEM and coil coating. Thus, it mainly is used in polyurethane, epoxy, NC, and general industrial baking paints. Addition and dosage: Calculation method for the required amount of active ingredient on pigment: TiO2 : 2 - 3%, Other inorganic pigments : 2 - 4%, Organic pigments : 20 - 40%, Carbon blacks : 20 - 60%. Afcona -5054 by Afcona Additives is a high molecular weight carboxylic acid salts that acts as a wetting and dispersing additive to prevent sedimentation as well as flooding of pigments. Helps to prevent interfacial tension between the hydrophilic pigments/extenders and the binder, forming a lattice structure with the pigments at the same time. It stabilized pigment through electrical charge repulsion forces. Compared to AFCONA-5044, Afcona -5054 has more polar groups and a higher molecular weight. Due to these facts it gives better anti-settling and antiflooding properties than AFCONA-5044. Is ideal for dispersing organophilic Bentonites, because it reduces dispersion time, improves the storage stability of the final paste and gives a thixotropic, easily processed paste-product. Can cause discoloration in nitrocellulose varnishes and cause gel in certain UPE resin. Used in primers, decorative paints, marine and heavy duty paints. Addition and dosage: 0.2 - 2.0% based on inorganic pigments, 30.0 - 50.0% based on Bentonites. Afcona -5280 by Afcona Additives is a cationic/anionic co-polymer with pigment affinity groups that acts as a wetting and dispersing additive for solventbased paints. Is economical and still gives very good performance in pigment stabilizing. Offers very good performance in alkyd based systems like NC, stoving paint and air-drying alkyd. Has very good alcohol solubility. Afcona -5280 acts as a good co-grinding agent for all solvent-based system. Combined with the universal resin AFCONA – 1102 recommended for the preparation of universal pigment concentrates. Addition and dosage: 0.5 - 1.5% based on TiO2 or extenders, 3.0 - 5.0% based on other inorganic pigments, 10 – 30% based on organic pigment. Afcona -5066 by Afcona Additives is a high-molecular weight unsaturated carboxylic acid that acts as a wetting and dispersing additive to prevent flooding and sedimentation of pigments. Do not contain any polysiloxane. Afcona -5066 can be used as additive for post addition to solve flooding and floating problems. Combination with a suitable high molecular weight dispersant can be used as co-grinding agent. Also used in coil coatings, floor coatings and those coatings applied by curtain coater. Is not compatible with white spirit or paints which are diluted with white spirit. Addition and dosage: 0.5 - 2.5% based on inorganic pigments or 0.1 - 1.0% based on total formulation, normally is at 0.5% on total formulation. Afcona -4015 by Afcona Additives is a modified polyurethane polymer that acts as a dispersant mainly for co-grinding. Contains strong acid and amine functional groups in order to give good cogrinding effect. Due to the strong acid and amine functional groups, it will only function very well in high polar systems like polyurethane, epoxy, NC and acid curing. In medium to low polar systems like baking paints, 3-5% of high polar solvents like ketonic solvent (MEK, MIBK) are needed to improve the solubility of Afcona -4015 in the system. The viscosity reduction property of high polar dispersants is always not too strong. Therefore, mill bases based on AFCONA-4015 are more thixotropic and higher in viscosity. After the let down this effect is hardly noticeable. Addition and dosage: Calculation method for the required amount of AFCONA-4015 on pigment: TiO2 : 6-8%, Other inorganic pigments : 5 -10%, Organic pigments : 20-40%, Carbon blacks : 30- 60%. Afcona -3778 by Afcona Additives is a pure polyacrylic polymer that acts as a flow and levelling agent, Also acts as a defoamer and deareator. Provides anti-flooding and floating. Does not interfere with intercoat adhesion. Afcona -3778 is used in coil and can coatings, especially can coating, polyurethane coatings, stoving enamels, two-pack epoxy compounds and air-drying alkyd systems. Addition and dosage: 0.3-2.0% on total formulation. In general, under normal conditions, the dosage is 0.3-1.0% based on total formulation. Afcona -6230 by Afcona Additives is aliphatic polyether with acidic groups that acts as anionic wetting and dispersing agent for inorganic pigments and fillers. Helps to improve the color acceptance. Increases the pigment loadings in the mill bases or in pigment concentrates. Afcona -6230 offers better rheology and improved gloss. It can be used in all solvent-based and solvent-free industrial and decorative coatings. It is especially suitable for wetting, dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments as well as fillers in solventfree epoxies as well as polyurethanes, like flooring or pipe-line coatings. Addition and dosage: 1-3% based on fillers and inorganic pigments, 5-7% based on organic pigments.
