Vulkasil® N

Vulkasil® N by Rhein Chemie Additives (Lanxess Group) is a silica filler with a reinforcing effect. In conjunction with china clay, siliceous chalk and other inactive fillers, it reduces cost and improves processability. It includes basic accelerators such as DPG, compounds containing hydroxyl groups (glycols) and almost all compounds containing basic nitrogen, e.g. triethanolamine and di-cyclohexylamine. It is often blended with carbon black in the manufacture of such goods as conveyor belts and truck tire treads, where they improve the tear resistance. It is used in hard, light-colored, colored or transparent articles, such as soles and heels, tubing, profiles, bicycle tires, car and bicycle inner tubes, cable sheathing. Vulkasil® N also finds applications in all rubbers except silicone rubber and for any technical rubber goods that need particularly good mechanical properties to withstand the service conditions. Recommended dosage level is up to 100 phr, depending on the type of rubber, activator and properties desired in the final product. It has a shelf life of 2 years.
