Socal® U1S2 by Imerys is a nucleating agent, multifunctional filler, processing aid and impact modifier in PVC. It also functions as a blocking agent for thin film production. It offers enhanced impact performance in PVC. This ultra-fine precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) grade is specifically designed to improve fusion, gloss, impact strength and designing & shaping properties in PVC. It provides improved luminosity, a smooth finish and high gloss by improving melt elasticity and reinforcement. This additive improves impact resistance in rigid PVC, particularly at low temperatures, by reducing the temperature of transition between the tough and brittle states. It can be used to replace or supplement organic impact modifiers. Socal® U1S2 speeds up fusion enabling compounders to achieve high extrusion rates while minimizing fouling of extruder screws and associated plate out. It is a highly effective flow aid limiting the compaction of problem powders and also provides control of viscosity without any adverse effect on adhesion. It is used in cards (credit, phone), households products/ consumer goods, wiring & cables, pipes, packaging, engineering / manufacturing, buildings & constructions, automotive/ transportation, furniture, footwear and artificial leathers.
