SpeedBright OB-184 by Lambson (Sartomer) is a 2,5-bis(5-tert-butyl-2-benzoxazol-2-yl) thiophene. Acts as a fluorescent whitening agent. Exhibits excellent heat resistance, high chemical stability & good chemical compatibility and offers bright bluish whitening effects. It is suitable for use in white and pastel tones where the degree of whiteness of the paint/ink needs intensifying. It will also mask the yellow self colour of some formulations and will also increase the deep tone of blue/black inks. SpeedBright OB-184 is used in printing inks, paints, overprint varnishes and fluorescent pigments/dyestuffs. SpeedBright DP74 by Lambson (Sartomer) is a 7-diethylamino-4-methylcoumarin. Acts as a fluorescent whitener. Exhibits excellent build characteristics and offers high fluorescence & excellent whitening effects at relatively low levels. Possesses Excellent light fastness on protein based substrates compared with bis-(triazinylamino)-stilbene disulphonic whitening agents. It has low toxicity and irritancy. Is stable in formulations at low pH, and its solubility in water is increased under acidic conditions. Shows excellent solubility in most organic solvents and in hydrocarbons. SpeedBright DP74 is particularly suited for fibers such as wool and natural silk. Used in coatings and varnishes.
