Sebacic Acid (Corvay)

Sebacic Acid distributed by Corvay Specialty Chemicals is a long chain dicarboxylic acid, also known as decanedioic acid or DC10. It is a biodegradable, white crystalline solid with a relatively high melting point, making it suitable for applications requiring heat resistance and stability. It is largely produced from the renewable raw material castor oil or alternatively from microbial fermentation of alkanes.

• It consists of a straight-chain carbon backbone which provides flexibility and hydrophobic properties.
• It is used as a raw material for polymerization with hexamethylenediamine to form PA 6 & 10, which possess excellent chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability.
• These polyamides are used in applications such as textiles, carpets, automotive components, and electrical insulation.
• Sebacic Acid has a shelf life of 2 years.
