Plasticizer-free thermoplastic material. It is derived from potato starch and is GMO-free. BIOPLAST 2149 is easy flowing and therefore particularly suitable for processing by injection molding to produce items that are completely biodegradable and recyclable. The material can also be converted by sheet and film extrusion. The absence of plasticizer allows the material to be easily processed to manufacture stable products of consistent quality. BIOPLAST 2149 has an excellent shelf life but will biodegrade readily in an industrial composting environment. The products made of BIOPLAST 2149 are printable by flexographic and offset printing without pretreatment as well as can be colored with masterbatches and are sealable (hot, RF, ultra sonic). It can be used for injection molded articles (e.g. cutlery, medical devices, clips, semi-finished products), thermoformed products (e.g. food trays)and blend partner in combination with other BIOPLAST materials (e.g. BIOPLAST GF 106/02).
