Dispersants

Category overview

Dispersants are clear liquids or fine powders that stabilize and evenly distribute particles in formulations, preventing clumping. They enhance consistency in foundations, sunscreens, and skincare.

Popular INCI ingredients in this segment include Polyacrylate copolymers and Lecithin. The shift toward bio-based dispersants is growing. Sub-types cater to oil- or water-based formulations. Regulations focus on stability and ingredient compatibility.

Sun Care: Water-in-Oil (W/O) Broad Spectrum Protection Daily Facial Moisturizer by DuPont Tate and Lyle

by DuPont Tate and Lyle

This Water-in-Oil (W/O) Broad Spectrum Protection Daily Facial Moisturizer is a light-feeling formulation which uses Zemea® Propanediol to maintain solubility and fluidity of water-soluble sulisobenzone UVB/UVA absorber. It evaporates on the skin to provide moisturization benefits and enhances freeze/thaw stability. The specially coated zinc oxide is designed to offer highest levels of broad-spectrum protection, transparency and dispersibility.

It contains both volatile & solvent/emollient components and has the ability to incorporate other organic sunscreen actives. It is stabilized by PEG-free emulsifier which offers inherent water resistance.

A formulation by DuPont Tate and Lyle.
