Pentaerythritol ester of maleic anhydride-modified wood rosin. It is a pale, high softening point, high acid number, thermoplastic resin. It is highly soluble in typical organic solvents as well as in dilute aqueous solutions of alkalies, including ammonia. Promotes high gloss and hardness. It is particlulary suitable for modifying compositions based on alcohol-soluble and water-soluble film formers, to which it contributes high gloss, block resistance, fast solvent release and good adhesion. Pentaerythritol ester of modified rosin. It is internally plasticized but has rapid solvent release. Provides good gloss and solution stability. Shows wide compatibility and solubility range. Used as modifier for film formers in lacquers. Also used in flexographic inks and spirit varnishes. Maleic-modified pentaerythritol ester of rosin. Shows good pigment wetting ability, gloss promotability good solubility and compatibility. Provides good color retention. Used in flushing colors and resin bonded pigments, printing ink vehicles, lithographic inks, soft oil based paints, varnishes and oil-modified phthalic alkyd coatings. Highly maleic-modified pentaerythritol ester of rosin. It is an extremely hard thermoplastic resin. Shows good pigment wetting ability, high gloss, good color retention, good solubility and compatibility. Shows greater reactivity with drying oils. Requires faster bodying, higher viscosities and faster film drying. Used in letterpress, offset and gravure-type printing inks and varnishes.
