Silfit® Z 91 by Hoffmann Mineral acts as a functional filler. It is a natural combination of corpuscular silica and lamellar kaolinite subjected to heat treatment. It is based on Sillitin® Z 86 and can be used on its own or combined with extenders or matting agents. Suitable for solvent-based- & solvent-free systems, primers/surfacers (also for automotive industry), varnishes, plastic topcoats, emulsion- and industrial paints.
  • It enhances the opacity of pigments with its spacer effect, providing a replacement potential of titanium dioxide of up to 20%.
  • In clear coats, it achieves good transparency without yellow tint and a slight whitish glazing effect depending on formulation principle & loading.
  • Its outstanding dispersion behavior enables paint production potentially without grinding, even for low film thickness applications.
  • It is quick-drying with a relatively low abrasivity, low sieve residue, low yield point and pseudo-plasticity.
  • It exhibits matting effect as well as weathering-, scratch- and abrasion resistance.
  • It offers very high brightness and color-neutrality in high solid formulations.
  • It has lower moisture content and less moisture absorption as compared to the Sillitin/Sillikolloid series.
  • It is designed for metal-, electrophoretic (anaphoretic & cataphoretic)-, coil- (topcoat, primer, backcoat)-, powder (polyester/HAA, hybrid, polyester, TGIC, UV-cured)- and water-based corrosion protection coatings.
  • It is also used in foil-, film-, dispersion-based clear wood- and UV/eximer-curing coatings, and construction- & decorative applications such as road marking-, concrete-, facade-, interior-, silicate- and dispersion silicate paints.
  • It complies with the standards on articles in contact with foodstuffs of the BfR and FDA.
  • The recommended dosage level of Silfit® Z 91 is up to 55% depending on intended application likewise up to PVC 35, often 10-20% w/w.
