Primary (Active) Driers for Coatings and Inks

ADDITOL® dry CF103 by allnex is cobalt- & solvent-free, primary drier based on accelerated manganese. It possesses low VOC, reduced odor and high flash point. It is a ready to use product with excellent compatibility and easy incorporation in solvent-borne & water-based alkyd stains/impregnations & paints, natural oils and conventional printing inks. It has outstanding set & through dry performance and allows leveling and substrate wetting without strong wrinkling tendency. It allows utilization in areas with high safety measures and long-lasting drying performance with strongly reduced loss of dry effect. It is recommended to combine with auxiliary driers such as ADDITOL® dry CF 200 (Li/Zr) or ADDITOL® dry CF 300 (Ba/Zr). The recommended dosage of 0.3-0.9 %, calculated on solid binder, is recommended for medium solid and water-borne alkyds. Whereas ultra-high solid alkyds require up to 1.3 % calculated on solid binder. Recommended for ultra-high solid systems, architectural, anti-corrosive, façade, furniture, marine & protective, stain blocking, trim coatings, wall paints and wood stain applications. The shelf life of ADDITOL® dry CF103 is 365 days.

ADDITOL® dry CF100 by allnex is a ready to use, universal cobalt-free primary drier designed to have excellent compatibility and fast incorporation in all solvent- and water-based alkyd paints. It is based on twin accelerated manganese. It offers well balanced leveling, high hardness development, improved long-term dry performance during paint aging, less discoloration and very good anti-corrosion support in industrial DTM formulations.

• ADDITOL® dry CF100 enables labeling-free use in high quality architectural and protective coating applications using oxidative drying alkyds.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.3-0.9% for medium solid and water-borne alkyds and 1.3% for ultra-high solid alkyds, calculated on solid binder.
• It has a shelf life of 365 days.

SUPER DRY 1000 by Eagle Specialty Products is a drier designed to replace cobalt drier in systems where cobalt may cause adverse side effects. It reduces discoloration of polyurethane during storage and improves the alkali resistance of polyurethane films.

• It helps prevent loss of dryness and significantly reduces yellowing in air-dry alkyd finishes.
• It is used in oil-modified polyurethanes, alkyd-modified polyurethanes, and conventional alkyd systems.

COBALT OCTOATE by Arihant Metallica is an active surface drier and oxidation catalyst. It is often combined with other auxiliary driers to provide uniform drying. As it is used in small quantity, it minimizes discoloration in paints & enamels as compared with other driers.

• It prevents atmospheric humidity from entering paint films, increasing gloss and reducing brittleness.
• This drier is a universal drier, which is essential in all media.
• Its deep blue color counteracts the yellow of oils and resins, enhancing whiteness.
• It is used in solvent and water-borne coatings and printing inks.
• Recommended dosage level of COBALT OCTOATE is 0.05 to 0.5%.

TIB KAT® 811 by TIB Chemicals is a primary drier. It promotes polymerization through drying. It also used in combination with auxiliary driers.

• TIB KAT® 811 is suitable for coatings dried at low temperature and high humidity.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.1-0.3% by weight.
• It has a shelf life of 1 year.

TIB KAT® 812 by TIB Chemicals is a primary drier. It is also used commonly in combination with auxiliary driers. It is suitable for coatings dried at low temperature and high humidity. It promotes polymerization through drying. The recommended dosage level is 0.1-0.3% by weight. TIB KAT® 812 has a shelf life of 1 year.

Aryadry Cobalt 10% by Aryavart Chemicals is an active drier or top drier as it activates drying of the film by oxidation. It is used in combination with lead/zirconium for good thorough drying.

• It is used as an accelerator in polymerization of unsaturated polyester resins.
• It is available as solution in MTO in various concentrations.
• Aryadry Cobalt 10% is suitable for printing inks and varnishes.

UNIDRY® X-527 by K-tech is a precomplexed manganese-borate preparation. Acts as a surface drier. It is a safe and environment-friendly product. Can either be added at the ink manufacturing stage to modify a basic formulation or added at press side at the discretion of the printer. Suitable for printing on various materials such as rubber, cardboard, papers, plastic cards, films and porous & non-porous substrates. Applications include offset inks.

UNIDRY® X-524 by K-tech is a precomplexed manganese-borate preparation. Acts as a surface drier. It is a safe and environment-friendly product. Can either be added at the ink manufacturing stage to modify a basic formulation or added at press side at the discretion of the printer. Suitable for printing on various materials such as rubber, cardboard, papers, plastic cards, films and porous & non-porous substrates. Applications include offset inks.

UNIDRY® X - 24 by K-tech is a precomplexed manganese preparation. It acts as a drier. It is environment-friendly and available at a very reasonable price. Provides water-, corrosion-, heat- and abrasion resistance. Used for air-drying systems for uniform drying. Applications include marine, interior wall, traffic, anti-skid, and roof coatings.
