Borchers® Deca Manganese 8 (oil)
by Borchers (Milliken)
Borchers® Deca Manganese 8 (oil) by Borchers (Milliken) is a manganese drier and used in solvent-based systems.
- It is formulated from metal salts of neodecanoic acids and promotes both surface- and through-drying.
- It can be significantly reduced under conditions of high atmospheric humidity, which may inhibit the drying action of manganese.
- Borchers® Deca Manganese 8 (oil) is commonly employed in the production of printing inks.
- The percentage addition of manganese, calculated on the metal content per resin (solid) is 0.01-0.05% Mn.
Borchers® Deca Manganese 6
by Borchers (Milliken)
Borchers® Deca Manganese 6 by Borchers (Milliken) is a manganese drier used in solvent-based systems.
- It is based on metal salts of neodecanoic acids and promotes surface- and through-drying.
- It can be significantly affected by environmental conditions, as high atmospheric humidity may severely reduce the drying efficiency of manganese.
- Borchers® Deca Manganese 6 is commonly utilized in pigmented coating systems, including architectural paints, wood coatings, printing inks, and various industrial coatings.
- The percentage addition of manganese, calculated on the metal content per resin (solid) is 0.01-0.05% Mn.
6% Iron Hex-Cem®
by Borchers (Milliken)
6% Iron Hex-Cem® by Borchers (Milliken) is an iron-based primary drier for oxidation-curing coatings stored at high temperatures. It also acts as an adhesion promoter in anti-corrosion coating systems.
- It provides rapid surface drying, improved through-drying, and maximum efficiency at temperatures above 150°C.
- 6% Iron Hex-Cem® is applied in oil-based baking systems for cans and also in dark-colored baking systems.
- It is typically used at 0.1-1.0% iron (Fe).

6% Cobalt Hex-Cem®
by Borchers (Milliken)
6% Cobalt Hex-Cem® by Borchers (Milliken) is a cobalt-based rapid surface drier designed for oxidatively cured solvent-based systems. It catalyzes redox reactions that lead to the dissociation of hydroperoxides, involving a change in valence from Co²⁺ to Co³⁺.
- It ensures consistent through-drying of the paint film when applied alongside a secondary drier such as zirconium, barium, or zinc.
- 6% Cobalt Hex-Cem® is widely used in applications such as architectural paints, industrial coatings, stains, oil-based inks, and artist colors.
- The typical dosage level of cobalt is between 0.03-0.08% in conventional alkyd formulations.
