Calofort® S by Specialty Minerals is a precipitated calcium carbonate.<br>
In rigid PVC, it is used to increase impact strength, particularly at low temperatures and give improved surface gloss and whiteness.</li>
<li>In plasticised PVC, it gives excellent scuff resistance and improved surface properties.</li>
<li>It is a white stearate-coated microcrystalline powder characterized by high surface area, controlled particle shape and high whiteness.</li>
<li>It has a tendency to form soft agglomerates due to its small size.</li>
<li>It is used in rubber due to its very good reinforcement properties and is particularly useful where hot tear strength is required.</li>
<li>Calofort® S is also used in reinforcing filler in polyester molding compound and carrier for additives used in the plastic compound.</li></ul> Calofort® U by Specialty Minerals is precipitated calcium carbonate. It is a white microcrystalline powder characterized by high surface area, controlled particle shape and high whiteness. Consists of agglomerated ultrafine calcitic crystals with an average primary particle size of 0.07µm. The high surface area and rheological structure-building ability makes it a versatile functional filler in many different applications. Calofort® U is used in rubber reinforcement and detackification of thin film natural rubber.
