Hydrophilic Agents

Hydrophilic agents are additives that enhance the water-attracting properties of plastics, typically appearing as fine powders or liquids. Key features include excellent water affinity, enhanced biocompatibility, improved adhesion, improved wettability, and moisture absorption. Suitable for applications in medical devices, hygiene products, and coatings. 

Alternatives to hydrophilic agents include hydrophobic agents, which offer opposite properties by repelling water. A notable trend in the industry is the increasing use of hydrophilic agents in smart materials and superabsorbent polymers. Sub-types include polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
