Hydrophilic Agents for Plastic Compounds

HYDROTHROUGH PS-887 distributed by Toyotsu Chemiplas and manufactured by Sanyo Chemical Industries is a non-silicon hydrophilic agent for non-woven. It has a high concentration and is supplied in oil. It shows durability and excellent quick-drying properties. It possesses low viscosity for good handling and easy emulsion preparation. HYDROTHROUGH PS-887 is recommended for diaper applications. It is of plant origin and does not use animal-derived raw materials.

Finalux G 125 by Fine Organics is an effective external hydrophilic additive for polypropylene (PP). It offers impressive water absorption that is essential for critical applications. It is suitable for coating on PP non-woven fabric & cloth. Recommended dosage level is 1-3%.

Aerosol® 22 Surfactant by Syensqo is a dispersant, hydrotrope solubilizer and highly hydrophilic surface-active agent. It is also used as a polymerization emulsifier for resins applied to tea-bag material. It is excellent as a post-additive for mechanical stabilization of emulsions. This product imparts small particle size for acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsions. Aerosol® 22 Surfactant combines high hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties with excellent acid and alkali compatibility. It is listed in FDA.

Andisil® MH 30 by AB Specialty Silicones is a crosslinking- and hydrophilic agent. It is a methyl hydrogen polysiloxane that is end-capped with trimethyl siloxy groups. The product is primarily used to treat powders to keep them dry, as an anticaking material and is highly water-repellent. It is used with silica, glass beads, titanium dioxide pigments, sodium chloride and lime. It may be cured with steaming or an organo-tin salt, such as stannous octoate or dibutyltin dilaurate. It is also reactive with vinyl silicone polymers in the presence of a platinum catalyst to produce a cured silicone rubber. It will also produce a very highly crosslinked rubber that will need to be adjusted or diluted to obtain a more suitable silicone rubber with improved elongation. Andisil® MH 30 has a shelf life of 12 months.

BYK®-2616 by BYK is a low-emission additive for the removal of moisture in PVC plastisols and to accelerate ambient curing acrylate systems. It can remove large quantities of moisture in a very short time from the system to be processed. It contains wetting and dispersing carrier media. A special processing technology is used to activate and stabilize the inorganic moisture absorber, calcium oxide. It prevents blistering when coating glass or synthetic non-woven materials with PVC plastisols for flooring and roofing felt. Also, prevents surface defects such as bubbles and cratering when processing PVC pastes using casting and rotational molding processes. It absorbs moisture that enters into the system through fillers and pigments. It enables the uncomplicated processing of damp regenerated plastics that have been stored for long periods. The recommended level for PVC plastisols is 0.75-2.5% additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation, depending on the moisture content of the system. BYK®-2616 is used as an accelerator in acrylate systems which are cured using TBPM (tert-butyl monoperoxymaleate). It offers stable particle size distribution, no sedimentation, no CO₂ uptake and simple dosage of the liquid additive. The recommended level for ambient curing resin systems is 1-2% additive (as supplied) based on the liquid resin (syrup). It is in line with EU Directive 2011/65/EC (RoHS 2), EU Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE), EU Directive 94/62/EC (Packaging Waste) and CONEG Toxics in Packaging. It complies with REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The shelf life of this product is 60 months.

Dimethylolbutanoic acid. It acts as a good crosslinking agent and hydrophilic agent. It is odorless and appears as a free flowing white crystal with the molecular weight of 148.16. With good solubility, it is used to produce water-based high molecule system and widely in water soluble PU system, polyester resin and epoxy ester. It will become a new kind of environment-friendly substitute of 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid.
