Polymer additives for Industrial Packaging

Ionphase™ rSTAT2 by Cargill is a halogen-free, UV stabilized, permanent, polymeric anti-static agent. It is non-migrating, not humidity dependent and provides low surface resistivity & stability against weathering. It offers control & safety for static electricity caused issues, improved non-charging properties and reduced charge decay time.

• It forms an interpenetrated network within the host polymer reducing the resistivity of the blend.
• It is used in rigid intermediate bulk containers (RIBC), drums, and canisters.
• It is used to control static electricity in plastics.
• Ionphase™ rSTAT2 is designed to be used with polyethylene (HDPE) in extrusion blow molding applications.
• It is also suitable for injection molding applications.
• It has shelf life of 730 days.

IP1300 by Ingenia is a UV anti-block polyethylene masterbatch. It contains 50% anti-block and high loading of hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS). It is designed for lawn, garden and industrial materials packaging in FFS bags. It is also used in other outdoor applications.

• It is free of animal-based ingredients.
• It is suitable for blown- and cast film, sheet extrusion and film coating.
• It is recommended for LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE film applications.
• IP1300 may be used to meet the requirements of CONEG.

Blendex® 587S by DKSH is a polymer heat modifier that is suitable with PVC, CPVC, ABS and SAN. It is an alphamethlystyrene containing a high level of AMS. It is excellent choice for embossing retention during thermoforming.

• It increases the service temperature of products produced from PVC homopolymer and copolymers.
• It improves vicat & heat distortion temperature and also increases tensile & flexural properties.
• It can be used with a Blendex impact modifier to provide impact strength as well as high heat performance.
• It provides dimensional stability to PVC parts.
• Blendex® 587S is used in appliance and business machine housings, electrical and telecommunication devices.
• It is available in Europe.

Atmer™ 103 by Cargill is a vegetable- or non vegetable-based effective anti-fogging agent (for LDPE, LLDPE and PVC based agricultural films) and processing aid (for PLA & PLA blends). It migrates to the surface of the polymer where it helps to lower the surface tension and subsequently reduces water droplets allowed to condense on the plastic that is then able to spread into a continuous, uniform layer on the fabricated film.

• It offers improved growth rates for crops and reduced plant & crop spoilage.
• It exhibits a good lubrication effect which improves flow of the polymers during processing and allows more complex or thin-walled articles to be produced.
• It maintains light transmission and transparency of the film.
• It is also suitable for use in EVA food wraps.
• The recommended dosage level is 1-5%.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days.

Dynamar™ FX 5911 by 3M is fluoropolymer-based processing aid. It improves extrusion processing of polyolefins and other thermoplastic resins, and can offer performance and cost benefits in a wide range of polymers. It is particularly useful at low levels in reducing extruder die build-up. This additive shows excellent thermal stability for high temperature processing. It is ideal for use in high viscosity, high molecular weight polyolefins. Dynamar™ FX 5911 lowers apparent melt viscosity and speeds colorant change. Also, reduces or eliminates melt fracture and can reduce extruder torque. It is used in LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE and PP. It is suitable for film, pipe and blow molding processes. This product allows for longer defect-free run times and improved gauge uniformity in cast film, BOPP processes and reduced fiber breakage in monofilament and fiber processes. Recommended for bottles, pipes and other HMW-HDPE articles with improved surface finish and quality. The typical usage level is 200-1000 ppm. It is FDA approved. The shelf life of this product is 2 years.

SOLVELAST PA-15 by Solvento is a low-viscosity polyester adipate polymeric plasticizer. It is suitable for flexible PVC and specialty polymer applications. Offers excellent permanence, low migration, low volatility and high resistance to extraction by oils and solvents.

• It is used in extrusion compound, wire & cable insulation, coated fabrics, tarpaulins and flexible PVC requiring good low-temperature performance.
• Complies with REACH regulation.
• SOLVELAST PA-15 has a shelf life of 24 months.

Dynamar™ FX 5912 by 3M is a free-flowing fluoropolymer. Acts as a polymer processing aid. Has very good thermal stability. Reduces/eliminates the die build-up. Lowers apparent melt viscosity. Broadens the extrusion processing capabilities of certain types of polyolefin resins. Can offer performance and cost advantages. Is designed for use at very low levels to improve the processing of thermoplastics. Dynamar™ FX 5912 is used in extrusion processing of wire and cable, fiber spinning and certain calendering operations.

Darvan® 1 Spray Dried by Vanderbilt Minerals is a sodium salt of condensed sulfonated naphthalene. It acts as an anionic dispersing agent for water insoluble powder. It has a low foaming tendency and can be used to stabilize latex. Darvan® 1 Spray Dried especially useful in ceramics and agricultural pesticide formulations.

Carboflex 800 by CarboQuimica is an ample dwell time plasticizer. It is used in ball, cable, canvas, upholstery, PVC applications. It is also recommended for automotive & transportation, communication, construction & infrastructure, toy & decoration. It requires resistance to high temperatures such as the insulation of electrical cables. It is stable at high temperatures. Carboflex 800 provides resistance to moisture extraction and excellent electrical properties.

Uvasorb® HA-88FD by 3V Sigma is an olygomeric hindered amine based UV light stabilizer. It provides long term thermal stabilization to polymers along with UV light stability. It offers low volatility, minimal migration rate, high extraction and gas fading resistance.

• It exhibits high thermal stability preventing decomposition as well as volatilization even at elevated temperatures and high antioxidant activity.
• It shows excellent synergism with a broad range of additives used in polymer formulation.
• Recommended for thin layer applications such as fibers, films, tapes and also for automotive, drums, bottles, crates, sheets, toys, marine and garden furniture applications.
• Uvasorb® HA-88FD is suitable for polyolefins, olefin copolymers like EP, EVA, polyacetals, polyamides, polyurethanes, styrenic polymers, elastomers and polypropylene-elastomer blends.
• Recommended dosage is 0.10-0.6% for PP fibers, 0.05-0.4% for PP and HDPE tapes.
