Cellulose Acetate

Cellulose Acetate by Goodfellow is an amorphous, glossy, hard thermoplastic grade. Exhibits good clarity, UV stability, high moisture absorption and chemical resistance. Suitable for spectacle frames, tool- and brush handles. Cellulose Acetate by Goodfellow is used for graphics purposes and packaging applications including stiff thin-walled tubes.

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate ( CAB )

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate ( CAB ) by Goodfellow is an amorphous, transparent thermoplastic similar to cellulose acetate but more expensive and tougher with better weathering resistance as well as lower moisture absorption.

It offers good ultra-violet resistance.

The light control sheets can be thought of as miniature venetian blinds encapsulated between plain CAB films.

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate ( CAB ) is suitable for spectacle frames, tool and brush handles, packaging including stiff thin-walled tubes for "display packaging", goggles and signs.

Polyhydroxybutyrate- Biopolymer ( PHB )

PHB and its copolymers with polyhydroxyvalerate (PHV) are melt-processable semi-crystalline thermoplastics made by biological fermentation from renewable carbohydrate feedstocks. PHB homopolymer is a stiff and rather brittle polymer of high crystallinity, whose mechanical properties are not unlike those of polystyrene, though it is less brittle and more temperature resistant. It has fair acids, alcohols and ultra-violet resistance as well as good greases and oils resistance. Has poor alkalis resistance. Also, its degradation rate is quite high at its normal melt processing temperature. Hence, copolymers are preferred for general purposes. It is believed that the most likely area for the application of homopolymer is in the medical/biological fields.
