SELVOL™ 523 by Sekisui Specialty Chemical is a white to off-white colored, partially hydrolyzed, remoistenable polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH or PVA) grade available in the form of granules. It is manufactured from vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) via a multistep process.
- Exhibits good mold release, high tensile strength, excellent bonding characteristics and ease of film formation.
- Offers better adhesion to hydrophobic surfaces, solubility in hot water and excellent stability to sunlight.
- Provides resistance to greases, petroleum hydrocarbons, animal or vegetable oils and organic solvents.
- SELVOL™ 523 is recommended for spun & filament sizing in textiles, adhesives applications such as polymerization, envelope, label, book binding, padding, carton/ case sealing and wood, creping, inkjet and grease resistant papers.
- It is also used in building products like cement/ plaster additive and peelable caulks & speciality applications like fragrance & detergent encapsulants, strippable coatings, films, molded products and ceramics.
