NeCycle™

Supplied byNEC Corporation- Last Updated on Sep 11, 2025

NeCycle™ by NEC Corporation is a cellulose resin bonded with cardanol. It is a biomass-based plastic produced by bonding non-edible cellulose with cardanol, a primary component of cashew nut shells. Has high plant composition ratio and a level of durability suitable for electronics equipment. It is said to be twice as strong as polylactic acid resin (PLA) and can be molded in less than half the time. It also has about 1.3 times the heat resistance and three times more water resistant than cellulose acetate (CA). It indicates a new style of recycling: a recycling of the material itself as well as a recycling of the CO2 that is absorbed by the plant component that constitutes the material's main resource. It is non-crystalline (short molding time compared to petroleum based plastics). Suitable for covering of liquid-crystal projector cable, POS speaker holder, mobile business terminal components, for front mask of Mate ME (Japanese) desktop computer, mobile-, landline-, desktop computer POS components, lighting equipment, side panel of landlines, casing of FOMA mobile phone, dummy memory card.
