Phenoxyethanol. optiphen™ po preservative by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a preservative. Exhibits excellent pH compatibility which allows use in acidic and even alkaline formulations. It can be used alone and functions synergistically with other preservatives and does not contain parabens, organic halogens, formaldehyde and formaldehyde donors. It provides microbiostatic activity against most bacteria, yeast and fungi. It is used in combination with other actives to broaden and optimize the antimicrobial profile. It is applicable for use in a variety of leave-on, rinse off personal care preparations such as shampoos, conditioners & care cosmetics like creams, emulsions, lotions, wet wipes and gels. It offers excellent heat stability. optiphen™ po preservative can be used in O/W-emulsions as well as in W/O-emulsions.
