Antimicrobials are typically clear or slightly tinted liquids, powders, or gels. They work by inhibiting microbial growth, extending shelf life, or targeting skin concerns like acne and odor control. Found in preservatives, anti-acne products, and deodorants. 

Popular INCI ingredients in this segment include Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, and Triclosan. Botanical-derived antimicrobials are gaining popularity. Some synthetic antimicrobials face regulatory scrutiny, especially in leave-on applications.
