What is ISOHEXADECANE used for?
Isohexadecane serves many functions and is thus used liberally in the cosmetic industry. This ingredient is put in a wide range of products such as lipsticks, deodorants, and foundations.
- Skin care: It keeps the outer layer of the skin moisturized for long durations, while also improving the way it looks and feels. This ingredient also deep cleanses dirt and forms a protective barrier on the skin
- Hair care: It leaves the shafts intensely hydrated and moisturized without weighing them down. Its rich and creamy texture allows the product to be spread easily. Even though essentially an oil, it does not make the hair greasy

Origin
Isohexadecane is made out of petroleum and is a branched chain of hydrocarbons consisting of sixteen carbons. This synthetic ingredient is also referred to as iso-paraffin which simply means that it is a mineral oil that is derived from petroleum.
