Isohexadecane (and) Disteardimonium Hectorite (and) Propylene Carbonate. BENTONE GEL® IHD V by Elementis is a non-abrasive, non-animal origin rheological additive. It is a specially prepared dispersion of an organically modified hectorite in isohexadecane. Offers rheological control & suspension to organic- & silicone-based cosmetics. It provides thermostable viscosity control of the emulsion's oil phase and improves application properties. It offers smooth feel by masking greasy or tacky components and imparts a pleasant residual silkiness to the skin. It offers predictable, reproducible & stable viscosity control, shear-thinning viscosity and excellent suspension of pigments & actives. It also controls alignment of special-effect pigments and raises apparent melting point, ensuring cost-efficient use of UV filters. It provides emulsion stabilization [w/o and o/w] and is suitable for cold process systems. It gives a high degree of formulating flexibility and used as an alternative to traditional polymer or cellulose-based thickeners. BENTONE GEL® IHD V is recommended for mascara, eye shadow, antiperspirants, creams & lotions and sun care products. It is approved under the RSPO mass balance system. The shelf life of this grade is 2 years.
