MINEX® 2

MINEX® 2 by Covia is a micronized functional filler and extender. It is produced from nepheline syenite which is a naturally occurring, silica deficient, sodium-potassium alumina silicate. It offers excellent brightness, sheen uniformity, low tint strength and color development. It protects the resin system from direct sunlight UV exposure, and steel and concrete from corrosion. It provides superior resistance to scratch, fading, chalking, cracking and loss of gloss. It also shows moisture-, chemical (acids & bases), abrasion- and corrosion resistance. It imparts optimum clarity, flattening and ease of dispersion. It possesses transparency, anti-settling and unique combination of optical and physical properties. It improves durability, film hardness, light and binder stability. Due to low oil absorption, it permits high loading. It provides low viscosity needed to meet high solids and low-VOC requirements. It is used in waterborne, high-solids and powder coatings. Also used in aqueous, solvent-, oil- and alkyd-based systems. MINEX® 2 is designed for inks, automotive OEM primers, industrial base coats & topcoats, architectural primers and high gloss coatings. It is also used in semi-transparent OEM coatings on wood flooring & furniture, metal office furniture, and consumer products and appliances.
