n-Butyl Acetate® by BASF is a moderately volatile, colorless solvent for paints. It possesses a characteristic ester odor, and good solvent power for cellulose nitrate, polymers, resins and oils. It offers resistance to blushing and leveling problems such as orange peel effects. It provides low water absorption and high resistance to hydrolysis. It exhibits miscibility with all conventional solvents eg. alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols, and glycol ethers, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons but limited solubility in water. n-Butyl Acetate® is used for coating applications.
