SpeedCure 2-ITX by Lambson (Sartomer) is a 2-isopropylthioxanthone. Acts as a highly efficient photoinitiator. It induces the rapid photo-polymerization of suitable resin formulations when used in conjunction with tertiary amine synergists. Promotes excellent depth cure in pigmented and thick films. Can act as an efficient long wave sensitizer for Type I and Type II photoinitiators. Has good solubility in most common organic solvents and UV curable monomers. UV absorption spectrum of this grade shows two major absorption bands. It is a cream to pale yellow colored powder. It is used in printing inks, wood varnishes and decorative coatings for metal cans & food cartons. Suggested levels of use are 0.25-3% w/w of Speedcure 2-ITX together with 2-5% w/w amine synergist such as Speedcure EDB or DMB (quantities vary depending on individual formulations and applications).
