Silicones for Coatings and Inks

Borchi® Gol 0011 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active, modified polysiloxane flow and air release agent for solvent-based and solvent-free coatings systems. It can reduce pigment floating and provides barrier properties to the cured film.

• It is suitable for high-build systems and can be used in combination with Borchi® Gol E2 in epoxies for enhanced flow and deaeration.
• It improves the surface properties of coatings and destroys air bubbles formed in the film during application.
• Borchi® Gol 0011 can be used in conjunction with suitable moisture scavengers to reduce the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles in polyurethane coatings.
• It is effective with all types of coating application methods.
• It is recommended for industrial flooring-, pipe- & storage tank coatings.
• The dosage is 0.5-3.0% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Dapro® BIO 9910 by Elementis is a bio-based defoamer for universal water-based coatings. It is based on vegetable oil/wax components with a small amount of special silicone. It can be used as a sustainable alternative to mineral oil/ petroleum-based conventional defoamer.

• It shows excellent compatibility, effective & fast defoaming performance and very good long-term efficiency
• It can be used in both pigmented and non-pigmented systems.
• It exhibits excellent storage stability due to its unique production process.
• It is suitable for waterborne chemistries such as acrylic, styrene-acrylic & vinyl-polymer.
• It is especially designed for coatings in architectural, industrial and wood segment.
• Recommended dosage is 0.2-0.5% depending on the total quantity of the paint system.
• Dapro® BIO 9910 has a shelf life of 18 months.

Borchi® Gol 1473 by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC- & solvent-free flow and leveling agent. It is a 100% active polyether-modified polydimethylsiloxane. It is recommended for topcoats that are cured at room temperature and below 150°C. It is suitable for solvent- and water-based systems, as well as solvent-free systems.

• It provides improved surface smoothness by reducing orange peel and preventing formation of craters.
• It shows broad compatibility in various systems.
• It can be used in a wide variety of binders.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol 1473 is 0.05-0.50% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system.

Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC- and solvent-free flow and leveling agent for solvent- and water-based coatings. It is a 100% active polyether-modified polysiloxane.

• It improves surface smoothness by reducing orange peel and prevents the formation of craters.
• It offers good compatibility with a wide variety of binders.
• It is suitable for two-component systems based on Desmodur®/ Desmophen® resins.
• Borchi® Gol OL 17 LC is recommended at a dosage level of 0.05-0.50%.

Borchi® Gol PL by Borchers (Milliken) is a VOC-free leveling agent and an effective flow promoter for solvent-based coatings systems. It is a 100% active, phenylmethyl polysiloxane which can eliminate craters and other surface defects characterized by poor flow.

• It inhibits the formation of surface defects like orange peel.
• It is compatible with numerous organic binders.
• It is particularly effective in unsaturated, paraffin-free polyester resins.
• It is suitable for can- and coil coatings.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol PL is 0.02-0.20% of total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder systems and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol LA 200 by Borchers (Milliken) is a 100% active and VOC-free defoamer, flow- and leveling agent. It is a solvent-free, polyether-modified polysiloxane additive. It is suitable for solvent-free, solvent- and water-based coating systems.

• It provides an improvement in substrate wetting and block and scratch resistance.
• It can quickly remove air bubbles from applied coated surfaces and avoids micro-foam formation at all production stages.
• It can increase surface slip and promotes higher gloss and less haze in cured finishes.
• It is designed for use in general industrial-, decorative-, automotive OEM- and automotive refinish.
• The recommended dosage of Borchi® Gol LA 200 is 0.05-0.30% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder type and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol LA 6 by Borchers (Milliken) is a polyether modified polysiloxane additive for solvent-based coating systems for improved substrate wetting, flow and leveling. It provides slip and block resistance and can inhibit the formation of surface defects.

• It can lower the surface tension of a wide range of formulated systems.
• It promotes high gloss and less haze in cured finishes.
• It is designed for use in air-drying alkyd and acrylic finishes, hydroxyl bearing acrylics and polyesters, polyester melamines, epoxies and certain UV systems.
• The dosage level of Borchi® Gol LA 6 is 0.1-0.5% of the total weight of the formulation depending upon the binder system and which property is being addressed.

Borchi® Gol LA 50 by Borchers (Milliken) is a substrate wetting, flow and leveling agent. It is polyether-modified polysiloxane designed for water- and solvent-based coating applications.

• It lowers the surface tension of a wide range of formulated systems and inhibits the formation of surface defects in non-polar surfaces.
• It is suitable for use with Borchi® Gol LA 2 for better slip.
• It is also used in UV-cured general industrial, decorative and wood coatings.
• The recommended dosage level of Borchi® Gol LA 50 is 0.05-0.30% based on the total formulation.

Borchi® Burst DFM 800 by Borchers (Milliken) is a silicone-based, APEO- and VOC free mineral oil defoamer. It is effective in both the grind and let-down stages. It does not cause fisheyes and craters. It is suitable for waterborne coatings, emulsion paints, polymer emulsions and colorants. Recommended dosage level of Borchi® Burst DFM 800 is 0.2-0.5%. It has a shelf life of 12 months.

SETAL® 1601 WS-65 by allnex is a silicone modified, air-drying, medium oil alkyd resin. It has excellent outdoor durability and good drying. SETAL® 1601 WS-65 is recommended for colored and white decorative topcoats.
