Secondary (Auxiliaries) Driers for Coatings and Inks

ADDITOL® dry CF300 by allnex is a cobalt- & APEO-free, auxiliary drier metal combination. It optimizes oxidative drying. It offers good pigment wetting, block- & water resistance and improved hardness & water spotting. It is used in water-borne and solvent-borne alkyd resin paints formulations. It is recommended to be used together with cobalt-free primary drier ADDITOL® dry CF 100. It possesses ultra-low VOC, low odor and high flash point. It is designed for decorative, industrial wood, marine & protective, industrial metal and high gloss systems. The recommended quantity to be added is 0.75-1.35 %, calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of ADDITOL® dry CF300 is 365 days.

ADDITOL® dry CF200 by allnex contains a balanced auxiliary drier metal combination. It is recommended to be used together with cobalt-free primary driers ADDITOL® dry CF 100 or ADDITOL® dry CF 101 for all oxidative drying water-borne and solvent-based alkyd resin paints. The recommended usage level of ADDITOL® dry CF200 is 0.75-1.35%, calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of this product is 365 days.

TEXIDRI™ ZINC 12% by allnex is a zinc octoate auxiliary drier. It acts as a catalyst in polyurethane coatings. It promotes even through hardening of cobalt-containing coatings. It is often used in low-temperature baking enamels where normal drier levels give severe wrinkling.

• It exhibits good pigment wetting properties.
• The recommended usage level is 0.05-0.20% and most commonly used at 0.08 -0.15%.
• TEXIDRI™ ZINC 12% has a shelf life of 730 days.

TEXIDRI™ CALCIUM 5% T by allnex is an auxiliary, sacrificial, calcium tallate drier for paints prone to loss of dry. It is a cost-effective grade and is used in combination with zirconium to replace lead drier.

• It is also used for coating applications and to control blooming of long oil pentaerythritol alkyds and to reduce hazing in lead (drier) based paints.
• It is an effective pigment wetter and improves both grind and tinter acceptance.
• The recommended usage levels are 0.03-0.15% and 0.05-0.1% metal on resin solids.
• TEXIDRI™ CALCIUM 5% T has a shelf life of 730 days.

TEXIDRI™ ZIRCONIUM 12% by allnex is a zirconium octoate-based secondary drier. It is generally used as a substitute for lead driers, usually in combination with calcium. It provides good through dry, color and improved gloss and gloss retention.

• It is used in paints and coatings.
• Recommended usage level is 0.06-0.25% metal on resin solids.
• TEXIDRI™ ZIRCONIUM 12% has a shelf life of 730 days.

Aryadry Zirconium 10% by Aryavart Chemicals is an auxiliary drier used in combination with calcium, cobalt and manganese. It is an effective replacement for lead in such systems. It achieves adequate drying time with less sensitive finishes when used in combination with calcium.

• It improves gloss, color, drying time, flexibility and other surface characteristics.
• It does not perform well under adverse drying condition of low temperature & high humidity.
• It is available as stable solution in MTO in various concentrations.
• Recommended usage level is 0.03 to 0.2% of the metal.
• It is used in high viscosity paints & printing inks.

Aryadry Calcium 10% by Aryavart Chemicals is an auxiliary drier. It does not assist in drying on its own but is effective when used in combination with cobalt or manganese.

• It can replace lead, particularly in baking finishes.
• It is used to stabilize lead in water sensitive finishes or in such finishes where free acid is present, e.g. alkyds of high acid value.
• Recommended usage level of Aryadry Calcium 10% is 0.02 to 0.2% of the metal.

UNIDRY® X-23 by K-tech is a zirconium-based compound. Acts as an auxiliary drier. It is a safe and environment-friendly product. Can either be added at the ink manufacturing stage to modify a basic formulation or added at press side at the discretion of the printer. Suitable for printing on various materials such as rubber, cardboard, papers, plastic cards, films and porous & non-porous substrates. Applications include offset and metal decorative inks.

UNIDRY® X - 25 by K-tech is a precomplexed calcium. It acts as a drier. It is environment-friendly and available at a very reasonable price. Provides water-, corrosion-, heat- and abrasion resistance. Applications include marine, interior wall, traffic, anti-skid, and roof coatings.

Dapro® 7054 by Elementis is an auxiliary additive. It acts accelerating the isocyanate-hydroxyl reaction in 2K polyurethane coatings, air drying alkyd paints and inks. It also acts accelerating the oxidation reaction in oil-based coating systems. This type of additive act as a catalyst for a variety of chemical reactions, as a drier in alkyd paints and lacquers and as a corrosion inhibitor in oils, resins and hydrocarbons.

• It is zinc complex in organic solvent.
• Special formulation that prevents defect formation in the film during drying process and film formation.
• It shows optimal concentration ensuring uniformity in reaction rates.
• This secondary drier acting on whole length of the film depth.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.4-0.8% by weight on the total of the formulation.
• Dapro® 7054 has a shelf life of 1 year.
