All Secondary (Auxiliaries) Driers for Coatings and Inks

ADDITOL® dry CF200 by allnex contains a balanced auxiliary drier metal combination. It is recommended to be used together with cobalt-free primary driers ADDITOL® dry CF 100 or ADDITOL® dry CF 101 for all oxidative drying water-borne and solvent-based alkyd resin paints. The recommended usage level of ADDITOL® dry CF200 is 0.75-1.35%, calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of this product is 365 days.

Borchers® Deca Barium 12.5 by Borchers (Milliken) acts as a highly efficient secondary drier. It inhibits the adsorption of primary driers on the surfaces of pigments and extenders, thereby enhancing the coating’s stability during extended storage.

• It improves gloss, provides good pigment wetting properties, and promotes through-drying.
• Borchers® Deca Barium 12.5 is suitable for solvent-based systems based on alkyds and epoxy esters that dry by oxidation.
• The typical usage level is 0.1-0.5% barium metal, based on binder solids.

ADDITOL® CF300 DRY (Old Name: ADDITOL® DRY CF300) by allnex is a cobalt- and APEO-free, auxiliary drier metal combination. It optimizes oxidative drying. It offers block- and water resistance, improved hardness and water spotting. It is used in water-borne and solvent-borne alkyd resin paints formulations.

• It is recommended to be used together with cobalt-free primary drier ADDITOL® CF100 DRY.
• It is designed for decorative, industrial wood, marine and protective, industrial metal.
• The recommended quantity to be added is 0.75-1.35 %, calculated on solid resin.
• ADDITOL® CF300 DRY has a shelf life of 365 days.

Octa-Soligen® Zirconium 12 by Borchers (Milliken) is a zirconium-based secondary drier widely used with cobalt, manganese, and calcium. It is based on metal salts of 2-ethylhexanoic acid (octoates) or their isomers.

• It promotes through-drying primarily by the formation of coordination bonds.
• It performs better in terms of color, yellowing, and stability relative to other secondary driers.
• Octa-Soligen® Zirconium 12 is recommended for solvent-based systems.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.05-0.30% based on solid binder.

Octa-Soligen® Zinc 8 by Borchers (Milliken) is a zinc-based secondary-drier. It is used in combination with primary driers (manganese or vanadium compounds). It improves through-drying, film hardness, pigment-wetting, dispersion, gloss, and color-fastness.

• It aids in slightly increasing the dry time.
• It can be used in high concentrations without causing discoloration of the film.
• It prevents wrinkling and orange peel on the surface of the paint film.
• It is used in solvent-based systems based on alkyds and epoxy esters that dry by oxidation.
• The recommended dosage level of Octa-Soligen® Zinc 8 is 0.03-0.50% based on solid binder.

Borchers® Deca Zirconium 15 HS by Borchers (Milliken) is a zirconium drier, used in VOC-reduced and high-solids coatings.

• It acts as a highly efficient secondary drier used in combination with primary driers like e.g. Borchi® OXY - Coat, Borchers® Deca Cobalt or Borchers® Deca Manganese based driers.
• It improves through-dry in oxidatively cured coatings primarily by the formation of coordination bonds.
• Borchers® Deca Zirconium 15 HS exhibits better properties in terms of color, yellowing and stability.
• The typical usage level is 0.05-0.30% zirconium metal, based on binder solids.

Octa-Soligen® Zirconium 18 HS by Borchers (Milliken) is a secondary drier based on metal salts of 2-ethylhexanoic acid (octoates) or their isomers. It promotes through-drying primarily by the formation of coordination bonds.

• It is widely used with cobalt, manganese, and calcium.
• It performs better in terms of color, yellowing, and stability relative to other secondary driers.
• Octa-Soligen® Zirconium 18 HS is recommended for use in VOC-reduced and high-solids coatings.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.05-0.30% based on solid binder.

Borchers® Deca Zirconium 15 by Borchers (Milliken) is a zirconium drier, mainly used in combination with primary driers like e.g. Borchi® OXY - Coat, Borchers® Deca Cobalt or Borchers® Deca Manganese based driers.

• It acts as a highly efficient secondary drier.
• It improves through-dry in oxidatively cured coatings primarily by the formation of coordinative bonds.
• It exhibits better properties in terms of color, yellowing and stability.
• Borchers® Deca Zirconium 15 is suitable for use in solvent-borne coatings.
• The typical usage level is 0.05-0.30% zirconium metal, based on binder solids.

Troymax™ Calcium 10NA by Arxada acts as an auxiliary drier, a loss of dry inhibitor, a pigment wetting/dispersing agent, and a catalyst. It improves fineness of grind, helping to enhance hardness and gloss.

• It also improves the action of cobalt driers and is often used in conjunction with them.
• It assists in the through-dry of air-initiated auto-oxidative drying systems.
• It also works synergistically with zinc products to provide heat stability to PVC.
• Troymax™ Calcium 10NA is suitable for high-performance coatings, including architectural, decorative, OEM/industrial, traffic, and gel coat coatings, as well as inks.

10% Calcium Cem-All® by Borchers (Milliken) is a calcium-based auxiliary drier. It is also used as a pigment wetting agent and loss-of-dry additive. It is suitable for solvent-based coating systems.

• It produces synergistic effects when used in combination with primary driers such as cobalt, manganese, and Borchi® OXY-Coat, as well as with secondary driers such as zirconium.
• It prevents pigments from adsorbing primary driers and ensures stable surface drying.
• 10% Calcium Cem-All® is suitable for oxidative-curing systems, including architectural paints, stains, and industrial coatings.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.03–0.30% metal based on vehicle solids of the coating.
