Amino Resins for Coatings and Inks

IZASP 14 distributed by DKSH is a low-viscosity, solvent-free liquid co-reactant that is used in the formulation of high-solids, two-component polyurethane topcoats and solvent-free coating materials. Teraspartic® 230 by Pflaumer Brothers is an amine-functional resin whose chemical structure provides a unique reactivity with polyisocyanates. Coatings based on it can be produced with high reactivity and fast curing speeds of 1 to 2 minutes, depending on ambient temperature and with a trimer-type isocyanate. It can be used by itself or blended with other amine functional resins, such as Teraspartic® 277 or Teraspartic® 292, or blended with other hydroxy-functional acrylic resins to achieve the desired working time.

• It is designed for use in high-performance, low VOC, low-odor clear and pigmented coatings.
• It offers excellent intercoat adhesion which allows application as a topcoat on epoxies and polyurethanes.
• It is easy to apply, durable against weathering, non-yellowing, and provides excellent gloss retention.
• Its applications are concrete, metal, and wood, with or without primer, when properly formulated.
• Teraspartic® 230 allows one-coat, direct-to-substrate end uses that are labor efficient for the applicator.
• It can be modified and formulated to meet specific application requirements, including cure-time, viscosity, film-build, and excellent corrosion resistance.

Laropal® A 81 by BASF is a condensed product from urea and aliphatic aldehyde.

• It improves of resistance to yellowing through excellent heat stability and fastness to light, improvement of hardness, gloss, body and flow.
• It is used as modifying component in alkyd resin production.
• It is very well suitable as grinding resin because of broad compatibility and universal solubility, low solution viscosity, high pigment binding capacity and transparency.
• Laropal® A 81 is recommended for solvent-based pigment pastes and industrial coatings.

Luwipal® 072 by BASF is a highly methanol-etherified melamine-formaldehyde resin.

• It promotes the natural grain and color of wood while providing good elasticity, adhesion, hardness, toughness, and weatherability.
• It is suitable as a crosslinking component for coil and can coatings.
• Due to its low viscosity, is also suitable for high-solids coatings.
• Luwipal® 072 is recommended for general industrial metal coatings, plastic component coatings, and automotive OEM applications.

Luwipal® 066 LF by BASF is a highly methanol-etherified melamine-formaldehyde resin.

• It promotes the natural grain and color of wood while providing good elasticity, adhesion, hardness, toughness, and weatherability.
• It is suitable as a crosslinking component for coil and can coatings.
• Due to its low viscosity, is also suitable for high-solids coatings.
• Luwipal® 066 LF is recommended for general industrial metal coatings, plastic component coatings, and automotive OEM applications.

Plastopal® EBS 400 B by BASF is a urea-formaldehyde resin solution. It is used in baking and acid-curable finishes. It can also be used to formulate nitrocellulose coatings where it suppresses yellowing and imparts gloss. Plastopal® EBS 400 B is recommended for industrial baking enamels, nitrocellulose lacquer and conversion varnishes.

Luwipal® 068 by BASF is a highly methanol-etherified melamine-formaldehyde resin.

• It is suitable as a crosslinking component for coil and can coatings.
• Due to its low viscosity, is also suitable for high-solids coatings.
• It improves resistance to chemical and suitable for water-based formulations.
• Luwipal® 068 is recommended for general industrial metal coatings, plastic component coatings, and automotive OEM application.

Plastopal® H 73 IB by BASF is a urea-formaldehyde resin solution with excellent adhesion, good flexibility, and resistance to light aging. It is used in highly reactive baking and rapidly curing acid-curable finishes. The resin can also be used in nitrocellulose coatings to suppress yellowing and impart gloss. Due to its very low free formaldehyde content, only a small amount of formaldehyde is released during curing. Plastopal® H 73 IB is recommended for interior and exterior wood coatings for flooring, furniture, and millwork applications.
