KBM 403 is 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane by Shin-Etsu. Used as an epoxy functionalized silane coupling agent and as adhesion promoter in adhesives. It contain two types of reactive functional groups that are epoxy group and alkoxy group characterized by different reactivity thus bonding with both organic and inorganic materials. It improves mechanical strength, moisture- & chemical resistance and electrical properties. KBM 403 acts as a sort of intermediary which bonds organic materials to inorganic materials.
