Associative Rheology Modifiers for Adhesives and Sealants

RHEOLATE® 310 D by Elementis is a low odor, VOC-free polyether polyol solution-based associative thickener. Designed to improve color acceptance and stability and to provide flow & leveling. Overcomes ancillary application deficiencies by not impairing recoatability, inter coat adhesion and blocking resistance.

• It raises viscosity mainly in the medium- to high-shear-rate region.
• It enhances syneresis control, sag resistance and suspension.

RHEOLATE® 185 by Elementis is an APEO- and solvent-free rheological additive for low to mid-shear viscosity build and shear thinning. It is a cost-effective, alkali-soluble associative thickener specially designed to replace cellulosic thickeners.

• It offers excellent leveling, better applied hide, less spattering and resistance to mud-cracking.
• It resists microbial spoilage and supplied as a low-viscosity liquid.
• It also prevents hard settling upon dilution.
• RHEOLATE® 185 is used in adhesives and sealants.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.5-2% as delivered on total system weight.

RHEOLATE® 212 by Elementis is 20% solids, VOC-free polyether polyurethane associative rheology modifier. It is designed for use in adhesives and sealants where maintaining viscosity at high shear during product application and improved film levelling are required.

• It can be used alone with small particle size latex systems or in combination with a co-thickener such as RHEOLATE® 655 or RHEOLATE® 666 if higher mid-shear (package) viscosity is required.
• It shows more efficient high-shear viscosity development and improved flow and levelling properties.
• Provides superior spatter resistance, good color acceptance and pourable liquid for easy addition.
• It is bio-stable and pH independent grade.
• It is compatible with other thickeners.

RHEOLATE® 250 by Elementis is 14% solids, non-ionic synthetic associative thickener. It is optimized for medium shear-rate applications and provides high thickening efficiency with optimized flow and substrate wetting.

• It can be used alone with small particle size latex systems or in combination with a co-thickener such as RHEOLATE® HX 6010 or RHEOLATE® 212 if a more newtonian shear rate profile is desired.
• It shows efficient mid-shear (KU) rheology modifier, shear thinning viscosity profile and reduced spattering during roller application.
• It is bio-stable and pH independent grade.
• It promotes effective substrate wetting and is compatible with other thickeners.
• It does not detract from gloss or wet adhesion.
• Designed for waterborne systems including adhesives, caulks & sealants and pressure sensitive & packaging adhesives.

RHEOLATE® BIO 5075 by Elementis is a bio-based mid-shear non-ionic synthetic associative thickener (NiSAT). It is an environmentally friendly, APEO-, VOC-, and tin-free polyurethane solution.

• It is designed to give a good balance of leveling and sag resistance
• Its low viscosity makes it an easy to handle pourable and pumpable liquid.
• It shows excellent compatibility with other associative rheological additives, clay-based thickeners, or cellulosic thickeners for desired rheology.
• It offers broad formulation flexibility, excellent storage stability, ease of incorporation and use, spatter resistance, and pH independence.
• RHEOLATE® BIO 5075 is used in water-based adhesives and sealants.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.2-1% (thickener solids weight) on total system weight.

RHEOLATE® BIO 5010 by Elementis is a bio-based associative thickener for high shear-rate viscosity build in water-borne systems. It is an environmentally friendly, APEO-, VOC-, and tin-free polyurethane solution.

• It is a pourable liquid for easy addition, with pH independence.
• It is compatible with other thickeners and does not detract from gloss or wet adhesion.
• It provides superior spatter resistance, good color acceptance, improved flow and levelling.
• RHEOLATE® BIO 5010 is used in adhesives.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.5-5% (thickener solids weight) on total system weight.

RHEOLATE® PHX 7025 by Elementis is a highly efficient, APEO-, VOC-, tin- and biocide-free polyether polyurethane thickener designed for use in water-borne systems. It is non-freezing, 100% solids associative rheology modifier with no coalescing solvent. It offers greater manufacturing flexibility and reduces formulation interaction.

• It exhibits newtonian rheological profile contributing to high-shear and minimally to mid-shear.
• It enhances film build and gives excellent brush drag.
• It improves flow and leveling across all sheen levels and provides excellent stain resistance properties.
• It can be used as a stand-alone or in combination with powder co-thickener such as Rheolate® FX 1100 or liquid products.

RHEOLATE® HX 6010 by Elementis is an APEO-, VOC- and tin-free, non-ionic synthetic associative thickener (NiSAT). It is a pourable, pumpable and easy to use liquid. It shows an excellent balance of sag and leveling, without contributing to mid-shear (KU) viscosity.

• It offers good storage stability and excellent color properties with reduced color float and good color rub-up.
• It provides outstanding application properties for uniform film build, improved hiding and superior coverage.
• It shows compatibility in all resin systems, especially in hydrophobic, acrylic and styrene acrylic resins.

RHEOLATE® 658 by Elementis is a polyurethane solution in water-based nonionic synthetic associative thickener. Designed for improving the rheology. It is environmentally friendly and contains no APEOs, VOCs and tin.

• It offers a good balance of sag resistance & leveling and is suitable for use from flats through gloss paints.
• It has a low viscosity and is a pourable and pumpable liquid.

RHEOLATE® 678 by Elementis is an associative rheology modifier designed for use in latex systems. It is solvent-, APE- and tin-free, polyether urea polyurethane (HEUR). It provides superior thickening efficiency in both the high- and mid-shear rate ranges and in-can viscosity.
