PYRATEX 241 by Synthomer is an emulsifier suitable for colophony soap. It is an aqueous dispersion of a co-polymer of butadiene, styrene and 2-vinylpyridine. It contains approximately 15% per weight of vinylpyridine bound in the polymer. PYRATEX 241 is used together with pre-condensed resorcinol formaldehyde resins for impregnating textile reinforcing materials for the rubber industry such as tire cords or fabrics for conveyor belts and hoses. It has a shelf life of 6 months.
