Piccolastic™

Polymer additives supplied by Synthomer
Piccolastic™ hydrocarbon resins are homopolymers of purified styrene, supplied by Eastman. They are used for plastics modification and rubber compounding, particularly as a plasticizer or softener. In styrenic block copolymer-based systems, Piccolastic™ grades associate strongly with the styrene endblocks, reducing melt viscosity and cohesion without greatly affecting tack and adhesion properties.

Piccolastic™ D125 Hydrocarbon Resin

by Synthomer

Piccolastic™ D125 Hydrocarbon Resin by Synthomer is a tackifier. It is a high molecular weight, light-colored, polar, thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin derived from pure styrene monomer. It exhibits properties normally associated with higher polymeric resins i.e. toughness and resiliency. It is hard and tough, readily workable, retains wetting qualities and provides excellent resistance to water, chemicals, shock, oil and grease. It associates strongly with the styrene end blocks, reducing melt viscosity and cohesion without greatly affecting tack and adhesion properties. It is compatible with EVA grades with up to 20% vinyl acetate and will improve heat resistance and increase the melt viscosity of the system. It is compatible with chlorinated paraffin, coumarone indene resins, polystyrene, lower molecular weight aromatic resins, rosin and modified rosins, rosin esters and SBR co-polymers. It can be used as a modifier for rubber and plastic compounds used in shoe construction and as a binder for xerographic toners. Piccolastic™ D125 Hydrocarbon Resin is also useful to formulate glues used for solvent-welding of styrene plastics, packaging-, non-food contact-, specialty tapes and tires.

Piccolastic™ A75 Hydrocarbon Resin

by Synthomer

Piccolastic™ A75 Hydrocarbon Resin by Synthomer is a plasticizer. It is a low molecular weight, light-colored, polar, hydrocarbon resin derived from pure styrene monomer. It provides reduced melt viscosity and cohesion without greatly affecting tack and adhesion properties. It is compatible with EVA grades with up to 20% vinyl acetate and improved low-temperature flexibility. It is compatible with paraffin- and microcrystalline waxes, alkyd resins, drying oils, epoxy resins, modified rosins, rosin esters, vinyl resins, SBR and SBR block copolymers, neoprene, nitrile, polybutadiene, and acrylic polymers and chlorinated rubber. It is used for rubber compounding, plastic compounds, shoe construction and as a binder for xerographic toners. Piccolastic™ A75 Hydrocarbon Resin is designed for packaging-, non-food contact-, specialty tape and tires.

Piccolastic™ A5 Hydrocarbon Resin

by Synthomer

Piccolastic™ A5 Hydrocarbon Resin by Synthomer is a plasticizer. It is a low molecular weight, light-colored, polar, hydrocarbon resin derived from pure styrene monomer. It imparts reduced melt viscosity and cohesion without greatly affecting tack and adhesion properties. It is compatible with EVA grades with up to 30% vinyl acetate and provides enhanced low-temperature flexibility. It offers compatibility with a variety of paraffin and microcrystalline waxes, alkyd resins, SBR and SBR block copolymers, neoprene, nitrile, polybutadiene, and acrylic polymers, chlorinated rubber, styrene, vinylated, and drying oil alkyds, rosin resins and EHEC (ethyl-hydroxy-ethylcellulose). It is used in plastics modification, rubber compounding, packaging-, non-food contact-, specialty tape and tires. Piccolastic™ A5 Hydrocarbon Resin has a shelf life of 2 years.
