Di isobutyl phthalate. Obtained from phthalic anhydride under reaction with isobutanol an esters; plastisicer. Acts as a plasticizer for plastics industry. Does not cause chemical changes at polymers, but executes physical and mechanical changes. May jelly all the polymeric material. Shows elasticity at low temperatures. Supplies lightening. Possesses low volatility, high electrical resistance. Cannot not be extracted with water.
