Phthalic acid ester of pentanols mixture. Colorless, odourless or slight aromatic, ester odour oily liquid, free of foreign materials. Acts as a primary plasticizer for PVC and PVC copolymers. Shows solubility in water but miscibility in organic solvents. Possesses low specific gravity and low freezing point. Used effectively as an intermediate between Di-butyl phthalate & Di-octyl phthalate to act as plasticizer in PVC compounding, specially in pipes, and also used for shoes applications.
