SILBOND® 40 by Evonik is a concentrated form of available silica. It is a partially hydrolyzed mixture of monomers, dimers, trimers, and higher polymers. Average -Si-O-Si- chain length is approximately five. It is hydrolyzed in water and miscible with organic solvents. SILBOND® 40 is used in the manufacture of less concentrated, more highly hydrolyzed binders which are recommended for investment casting molds. SILBOND® TMB-70 by Evonik azeotropic mixture containing 70% of trimethyl borate and 30% of methanol. Acts as a curing agent when used with Silbond ethyl polysilicate binders. Ethyl polysilicate. It is a concentrated form of available silica with a flash point above 100°F (38°C), classifying it as a combustible liquid. It is a partially hydrolyzed mixture of monomers, dimers, trimers, and higher polymers. Average -Si-O-Si- chain length is approximately five. It is hydrolyzed in water and miscible with organic solvents. Used in the manufacture of less concentrated, more highly hydrolyzed binders which are recommended for investment casting molds. Tetraethyl orthosilicate. Possesses 99.8% of the active content. Contains low water. It is an excellent source of high purity silica. It gets hydrolyzed in water. Miscible with organic solvents. Ethyl polysilicate. It is one of the most concentrated forms of available silica.
