Syntex -OB by Synchemer is a 2, 5'-bis [2-(5-tert-buty l-2 benzoxazoly)thiophene. It is an optical brightener available in light yellow or milk white powder form. It is insoluble in water and soluble in paraffin, mineral oils and ordinary organic solvents. It can be added at any stage in process of whitening the polymers and can give the finished product a bright bluish white glaze. Syntex -OB is compatible with thermoplastic, PVC, PS, PE, PP, ABS and acetate fibers.
