Silcat® VS-904 Silane

Silcat® VS-904 Silane by Momentive Performance Materials is a crosslinking system (silane, peroxide and catalyst). The product is a proprietary, modified vinyltrimethoxysilane blend containing high levels of a cross-linking tin catalyst -DBTDL. The high level of cross-linking tin catalyst leads to short curing times in the post-treatment in either steam or hot water baths. Excellent electrical and mechanical properties are achieved for the insulation. The optimum levels of vinyltrimethoxysilane and organic peroxide can result in a low dosage level of the product. Silcat® VS-904 Silane can be used for cross-linking unstabilized polyethylene grades (LDPE/LLDPE) in commercially available one-step extrusion equipment designed for the manufacture of low- and medium-voltage power cables. On average between 1.2 and 1.6 % of the product is required - depending on the type and grade of polyethylene used.
