Davis Color™ Black 842 by Huntsman is a synthetic Iron Oxide Black. It is a synthetic magnetite (Fe3O4) produced in the aniline process, high-tinting strength inorganic, permanent and inert black pigment characterized by a brown/gray tint.
- It meets or exceeds ASTM C979-82 standards for pigments used in cement.
- It exhibits color-stability in processing temperatures below 180°C (365°F), above this temperature, it changes color from black to brown and finally to red.
- It is recommended, owing to its sufficient purity, for use in packaging or articles that come in contact with food (21CFR), but not suitable for the direct coloration of pet food or cosmetics.
- It offers reliability and consistent quality, stability under exposure to sunlight and UV radiation, and alkali, chemical and weather resistancy.
- Davis Color™ Black 842 is used for plastics and rubber applications.
