Sodium salt of condensate of naphthalenesulphonic acid and formaldehyde. It acts as a dispersing agent for paper, leather, rubber and plastic industries and levelling agent also for dyeing of textile materials. It is stable in hard water and increases color strength when combined with levelling agents. At 20°C, it appears as a yellowish-brown
powder. At 1 % solution, it has an appearance of clear to slightly
opalescent liquid without mechanical impurities. It has a very high efficiency therefore, it is employed mainly in PES dyeing with dispersed dyes, levelling of basic dyes on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers and levelling of anionic dyes on PAD fibers.
