Vazo™ 88 by Chemours is a high-temperature polymerization initiator. It can be used alone or in combination with other free radical initiators. It is a substituted azonitrile compound that thermally decomposes to generate free radicals and nitrogen gas. It is designed to initiate bulk, solution and emulsion polymerization. The rate of decomposition in Vazo™ 88 is first-order and is unaffected by contaminants such as metal ions. It finds applications in other thermoplastic. It has a 10hr half-life in solution at 88°C.
