Vazo™ 56WSP by Chemours is a free radical source (FRS) typically used as a polymerization initiator. It is a substituted azonitrile compound that thermally decomposes to generate free radicals and nitrogen gas. It can be used alone or in combination with other free radical initiators. It is designed to initiate bulk, solution and emulsion polymerization. The rate of decomposition in Vazo™ 56WSP is first-order and is unaffected by contaminants such as metal ions. It finds applications in other thermoplastic. It has a 10hr half-life in solution at 52°C.
