2-ethylhexyl mercaptoacetate. Acts as a chain transfer agent (CTA). It is a clear, in short optical path colorless liquid with characteristic odor. 2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate, dist. (EHTG dist) reacts like other mercaptanes and shows longterm stability. Possesses an incompatibility with oxidizing agents, strongly alkaline and strongly acid materials in order to avoid exothermic reactions. Used in the manufacture of certain polymers.
