Akrofax™ No.173 by Akrochem is a brown, medium-hard, sulfur-vulcanized vegetable oil. It is used as an extender, processing aid and softener in rubber applications. It improves ozone resistance of the rubber compounds. It offers non-thermoplastic structure in uncured compounds that strengthen extruded sections and minimizes distortions in open steam cures. It increases the incorporation of fillers and milling efficiency. It provides unique surface finish and supple feel to vulcanized rubber goods. It exhibits the ability to flow or promote flow under mechanical pressure. It reduces migration of oils and plasticizers to the surface in low durometer stocks. It is used in tubing and calendared products for dimensional stability. Akrofax™ No.173 absorbs large amounts of mineral oils and liquid plasticizer on mill and banbury.
