Leveling Agents for Plastic Compounds

PEG POSS® by Hybrid Plastics is a wetting, leveling, and gloss additive. It is a plasticizer in acrylic resins. It is a hybrid molecule with an inorganic silsesquioxane at the core and methoxylated polyethylene glycol groups attached at the corners of the cage. It offers excellent dispersion. PEG POSS® is used as a lubricant which provides high film strength to reduce friction and wear. Complies with TSCA regulation.

BYK® -354 by BYK is a polyacrylate-based, surface additive. It is used as an anti-cratering & leveling additive, increases gloss and also has a deaerating effect as a result of its high molecular weight and non-polar structure. This thermally stable additive only reduces surface tension slightly.

• It is recommended for all ambient curing resin systems such as unsaturated polyester resins and epoxy resins.
• The recommended level is 0.1-1.5% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation.

GEROPON® 99 by Syensqo is an excellent anionic wetting, rewetting and leveling agent. It possesses good emulsifying and dispersing properties. GEROPON® 99 has very low dynamic surface tension, and migrates to interfaces very rapidly. It is used to reduce surface tension and to increase absorbency and penetration. It is used in polyolefin films, acrylic & modified acrylic plastics, semi-rigid and rigid, perfluorocarbon resins, polyethylene phthalate polymers and polysulfide polymer-polyepoxy resins. It has low-VOC, improves system stability and durability. It is listed in the FDA.

Aerosol® Lf-4 Surfactant by Syensqo is a wetting, dispersing, leveling and emulsifying agent. Aerosol® Lf-4 Surfactant is specially designed for applications requiring good dynamic wetting with low and unstable foam generation.

Aerosol® OT-75 PG Surfactant by Syensqo is an outstanding dynamic wetting, excellent emulsifying and leveling agent. It is also used as mold release agent, de-watering aid and hydrophobic resin dispersant.

Amgard TBEP by Syensqo is tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate-based plasticizer and defoamer. Amgard TBEP also acts as a levelling agent for acrylic and styrenic floor polishes and a coalescent additive for emulsion polymers. It also acts as a halide-free flame retardant in polymer systems.

Aerosol® OT-70 PG Surfactant by Syensqo is a powerful wetting and leveling agent. It is characterized by ultra-rapid surface tension reduction, resulting in unique spreading, absorbency & penetration properties. It offers very low dynamic surface tension and migrates to interfaces rapidly. Aerosol® OT-70 PG Surfactant is a high-flash version of AEROSOL OT in liquid form with propylene glycol and water for aqueous formulations. It is listed in FDA.

Sodium salt of condensate of naphthalenesulphonic acid and formaldehyde. It acts as a dispersing agent for paper, leather, rubber and plastic industries and levelling agent also for dyeing of textile materials. It is stable in hard water and increases color strength when combined with levelling agents. At 20°C, it appears as a yellowish-brown powder. At 1 % solution, it has an appearance of clear to slightly opalescent liquid without mechanical impurities. It has a very high efficiency therefore, it is employed mainly in PES dyeing with dispersed dyes, levelling of basic dyes on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers and levelling of anionic dyes on PAD fibers.
